Why deep looking.

We’ve developed an extensive set of programs, workshops and virtual platforms for exploring mindful and contemplative experience of art, architecture, and nature – through the Art of Deep Looking.

We’ve done this because we know how distractible our minds can be. Distractions come in the form of spontaneous thoughts, internal chatter, habitual thinking, and rumination. These types of distraction are with us constantly. They pull us away from the experience at hand.

Without realising it, our clouded mind often interferes with and significantly impacts the many extraordinary moments of our life experience – depriving us from moments of awe and wonder that would otherwise bring us immense delight and joy.

Our minds have evolved to efficiently process vast amounts of information in our environment. However, we cannot process everything simultaneously. That's where the Art of Deep Looking comes in. It provides frameworks and tools, from wisdom traditions thousands of years old, to help us concentrate on the present moment with clarity and precision, like a flashlight illuminating our experiences.

By focusing on art, nature, and architecture, we aim to engage fully and deeply with our experiences. We share ways to best activate curiosity, learning to suspend our knee-jerk tendency for judgement which clouds our experience. We show how to approach each unique experience with a “beginner's mind.”

The Art of Deep Looking can help us tune into the emotions and feelings that deepen our connection with an experience to create greater and more lasting memories.

Consider the fact that the average person spends only 27 seconds looking at a work of art when visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Our minds often wander, and we can go through experiences on autopilot without truly engaging.

We believe the Art of Deep Looking has the potential to revolutionise how we experience our lives, by allowing us to deeply see and experience the world through all our senses.
